Today I had the distinct pleasure of documenting Kerry and Steve's journey into parenthood. Kerry is currently 28+ weeks pregnant with her first, second, and third child(ren)! That's right...they're expecting triplets. And these are three very lucky little ones; Mom is doing all she can to ensure they are kept safe and sound. Even though Kerry is confined to her hospital bed, she has an amazingly positive attitude and bright spirit. I was honored to photograph this lovely family during such a special time.

It always melts my heart when a Big Brother or Sister lights up when you ask about their new baby. Miss Jordan is no exception, and was more than excited to show off her new brother. Capturing the tenderness between them was a treat, especially once Grayson was all tuckered out. Jordan was a spectacular model, letting her sweet-self shine through during our entire session! This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Zach, who just turned one. The weather was beautiful for our outdoor session on Sunday. Zach demolished his birthday cupcake, and looked too cute in action. I am not sure which he liked more, the cupcake or all the sticks there were to play with. I had a wonderful time photographing these two energetic brothers in downtown West Bend yesterday. The gritty alley made for a great 'playground,' complete with the perfect rocks for tossing and fire escapes for climbing. I had to do a little Wicked Witch of the West impression to get some smiles once it started sprinkling (I'm melting...); thank goodness for my 8th grade drama class :)

This past weekend Miss N came over for her two year photo session. She cracked me up. Even at age 2 she still knew that beads and pearls were a must have accessory. It was a pleasure capturing Miss N as she 'worked' the camera.

Jim & Sara welcomed their son into the world on August 5th. Baby L was such a JOY to photograph. Once he was in a peaceful sleep, he pretty much let me do as I pleased. It was abundantly clear that both Jim and Sara will be spectacular parents to this little angel. Congratulations guys, you have quite the gift.

My Goddaughter, Miss E, turned 4 years old last month. We headed out to the park for a fun session, and got in some great shots before the mosquitos started eating us alive. Miss E was a great sport, and I think we all had a good time :)

St. Charles Silent Auction Winners

Each year I make at least one donation to an area church, foundation or charity in hopes of helping to raise money for the organization. St. Charles parish holds a silent auction each year to raise funds for the parish and school. Last year, the B family bid on, and won a portrait session and free prints! I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing this fun-loving family last week. We had to work quick so the mosquitos didn't carry us away, but it was a blast. Thanks guys, I had a wonderful time!

I was honored when Sara and Jim called to ask if I would photograph their maternity portraits. Jim is a high school friend of Chad's and mine, which made the whole session even more special. I can't believe my nephew Gavin is already a year old. Where have the past twelve months gone!? Yesterday we headed to the streets of Down Town West Bend for a fun one-year session. It seems to me that the Brewers may have a future ball player here. Gavin wasn't about to take his eye off his baseball. What a sweetheart!

Creekside Portrait Party

This past Saturday I decided to try and get my name out in the West Bend community by hosting a portrait open house in my subdivision. I had all of my work displayed and even offered FREE mini sessions to the neighbors. While I did not have may visitors, I was able to catch a few shots of Miss Lilyana just playing around. Becky and Kevin welcomed their new daughter Ella into the world on June 9th. After a long week in the NICU the proud parents were able to bring Ella home where she belongs. I was honored to capture this beautiful family and their miracle baby during her first few weeks of life. Everyone is doing well, and Ella was a joy to photograph. Congratulations!!

I am so excited to introduce baby Lilyana. Born January 29, 2009 to one of my very best friends, Kristine (and her husband Luiz). It goes without saying that she is one of the most beautiful little girls I have seen, however, she is also one of the calmest/content babies I have ever worked with. I have a feeling that she can sense the love surrounding her, helping to put her at ease. The love that this family has for their new bundle of joy (and for one another) is awe inspiring. Just to hear Mom and Dad talk about how blessed they are and how 'complete' the family is could bring a tear to your eye.

I am so happy to be a part of this little one's life, and I cannot wait to watch her grow and change. Congratulations Kris and Luiz, she is an angel.

New Location...New Promotion

I hope that everyone has survived the Holidays! Things are finally beginning to settle down for most of us (I think). As some of you may know my home studio has moved to West Bend, WI. Because it may take some time for the official studio to be completed, please pardon our dust for the time being :)

As a 'Welcome to '09' celebration I wanted to offer all my current clients, and any new clients, an opportunity for a FREE mini-session, and FREE 8x10. These sessions will last approximately 20 minutes and will result in 10 images. All sessions will be done on a timeless white (high-key) background at my home studio. Images will be posted online for clients to view and order.

Mini-sessions will be held Saturday and Sunday, February 21st and 22nd. If you are interested in reserving a session please call or email me. Slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

One of the most incredible aspects of my job is being able to document the changes in children as they grow up. It is amazing to see how different they are, even from month to month. I was honored to photograph Miss Jordan again for her first birthday. I first meet Jordan last year when she was only a few weeks old...now that is a CHANGE :) She has really grown into a beautiful little girl. It was a pleasure to work with Jordan and her family again this year.

We were able to complete the majority of our session before the brief downpour last Saturday morning. Both Grace and Bella were a joy to work with, as usual. Big sister Mikayla is so full of personality, she truly made my job easy. While Caden was very eager to show off how quick he is on his feet. It has been a pleasure watching these two cuties grow and change over the past year and a half.

In honor of the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday (and my Birthday) I will be offering two days of 'Mini Sessions.' Sunday, May 25th and Saturday, May 31st. Each session will last 30 minutes and will result in 10 finished proofs. What a great chance to capture those 'true life' images that last a life time. Appointments will be available from 9:00am until 5:00pm each of the two days. All sessions will be held in my home studio, so feel free to bring a change of clothes or some fun accessories.

Here is the breakdown:

When: Sunday, May 25th AND Saturday, May 31st
Where: Sarah's home studio in Oak Creek

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of photographing Miss Grace, who was 'pretty in pink.' However, she preferred her fashionable purple hat and jacket, so we headed outside. If you were to name three household chores you loathed, I am willing to bet laundry is on everyone's list. Well that's not the case for Mr. Bryce--he's a laundry lover! I had a great time getting to know Bryce and his family this weekend at our Portrait Session. Not only does Bryce do laundry, but he is a chatter box--Look out ladies, this little man's got it all!

What can be more amazing than bringing a new life into the world? Pregnancy is such a beautiful and special time in a family's life. I had the distinct honor of capturing a wonderful family as they anticipate the arrival of baby Jonah. Kendra is such a gorgeous mommy-to-be, and was a pleasure to work with. It is hard to beleive that tomorrow is Valentine's Day 2008!! With the beginning of a new year comes the start of my official launch of business. Everything is coming together nicely and I am so excited to be able to offer new and exciting products and services. A few changes you may notice for this year include:

--In-person ordering sessions (this will give you the opportunity to see and touch your images, along with samples of available products).
--A new price list (basic pricing is available on my website, or you may contact me for a complete overview)
--New products such as Fine Art Canvas', Coffee Table Books, Session Albums, Collages and Storyboards, DVD slideshows, and more.
--An option to purchase digital files of your images (low res for your computer, cell phone, ipod, etc. -or- a full res file for printing up to 8x10s).

I wanted to 'celebrate' these wonderful changes by offering a gift to all new and returning clients. All sessions booked between Feb 14th and March 31, 2008 will receive a $75.00 print credit with their paid creation fee.

He's got some MOVES!

I had the distinct pleasure of photographing a 21 month old, Dancin' Machine, this Thursday. Master 'B' was too cute with all of his hip shaking, arm flapping, dance moves. After a little candy courage (aka M&Ms) and help from the Jock Jams CD, we were able to capture the TRUE Bryson. Isn't he a charmer??!!

First Session of the Year

Photographing these two cuties was a WONDERFUL way to start the new year. This was our second session with Miss Grace, who brought along big sister Isabella (and Mom & Dad) this time. What a beautiful family, and so easy to work with. The personality of both girls just shines through their breath-taking eyes.

My Style

Not all great portraits are of smiling faces (although I never turn down a genuine smile). A great portrait captures raw emotion, fleeting moments and true expressions. I strive to create photographs that will freeze time, allowing you to look back and relive your life's story.

Many of my favorite images are of thoughtful faces and soulful expressions. I am not afraid to take chances with my photography, using unique crops/angles and color (or lack thereof) to make artistic statements. Backgrounds and props should add something to the image, not detract from the subject. The same holds true for clothing.

Whether in the studio, or on location, I strive to create custom portraits--unique, but real. I want to capture the TRUE story.
